The United Nations Information Centre UNIC Jakarta represents the Department of Public Information of the United Nations, created in 1946 to promote an informed understanding of the work of the United Nations among the peoples of the world.First opened in 1955 with the full support of the Government of Indonesia, UNIC Jakarta is one of the principal sources of information about the United Nations in Indonesia. It is part of a network of 63 such offices and centres around the world that reach out to the media and civil society stakeholders  educational institutions, business and professional associations, faith-based and community organizations - building partnerships for the promotion of United Nations goals, objectives and principles.
